Arrival in Dar, not shown above !
Landed safely and duly queued for my visa. I had read online that if you have an Irish passport your visa should be $35 instead of $50 with the UK one. Budget traveller that I am, I used the Irish passport and was still asked for $50. Darn I thought and got back in the queue. 2 hours later my name was shouted across the crowded room, and I was called to the window, and handed my money back, with a cheery “Irish and Tanzanians, we are the same, you don’t need a visa”, and away I went.
Stayed in a house on the Peninsula, guarded compound, where diplomats and expats live, geet posh apart from the bed bugs feasting on me! Ate in a super Indian restaurant courtesy of Geoff and Hilde.
